VTK AddOn

The Visualization Toolkit (VTK) has become one of the most popular open source toolkits for visualization purposes. VTK offers a large amount of visualization, 3D computer graphics and image processing algorithms. Techniques include scalar, vector and tensor methods, implicit modelling, polygon reduction, or mesh smoothing.

The Visualization Toolkit AddOn for MeVisLab offers the use of VTK methods as MeVisLab modules. VTK algorithms can be used together with ITK, Open Inventor and other MeVisLab modules in the visual prototyping platform MeVisLab.

For the VTK example networks that come with the AddOn, you need to download the VTK demo data from kitware (tar.gz) and install it into your $(HOME) directory.

For a list of VTK modules available in MeVisLab, see the VTK Module Reference.

Download

The VTK AddOn is included in the MeVisLab SDK installer that is available for download.

Discussion Board

A VTK thread is available in the MeVisLab Discussion Forum for the users and developers community.

Documentation and Examples

  • Documentation is available as module documentation for each VTK module in MeVisLab.
  • There a many example networks provided for each module. Examples  taken from the VTK Textbook and the VTK User's Guide are constructed as MeVisLab networks.
